Creative Nonfiction
My creative nonfiction writing deals with themes of migration and belonging, death and loss. I write the most when I am traveling and when I am grieving. Each essay recounts — in a lyrical, emotive memoiric style — past memories and present reflections on my experiences growing from girlhood in a West African immigrant family in the Northeast and Midwest, and living as a Black woman in the contemporary United States.
Below is a selection of my creative nonfiction essays. For examples of other written work, you can view my keynote speeches and ceremonies. If you are interested in representing my work for publication, please contact me.
